Welcome to Banovallum School.  It is a privilege to be the Headteacher of a school which sits at the heart of its local community. At Banovallum we have the highest aspirations for all of our students.  We want to provide them with the all-round education which will enable them to play a decisive role in an ever changing world.

To that end, we offer a broad curriculum which offers our students the opportunity to study subjects that they love and which will enable them to make the next step in their educational journey, be that to study A Levels, go to College or to embark on an Apprenticeship. However, the traditional school curriculum alone will not enable you to build a successful career in this ever-shifting world. The modern world demands flexibility, dynamism and resilience and we seek to develop these areas by our broad offer of extra-curricular activities. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is very popular amongst our students and we now run both Bronze and Silver schemes. Often these lead every two years to an expedition-style adventure in which the students have to organise themselves to raise funds for the trip. Our current Year 10 students will be embarking on their trip to the Atlas Mountains in Morocco in 2020. We also offer numerous trips, ranging from visits to major European cities where the students can absorb city life and embrace the all the cultural activities these cities offer to ski trips and trips to major sporting events such as this year’s European Rugby Champions Cup. For a relatively small school, Banovallum punches above its weight in sports with our Netball, Cricket (both girls and boys) and Rugby teams winning trophies in the last year. We have been heavily involved in the Emerge Arts project and have contributed to the cultural life of Horncastle through our participation in the Arts Festivals in the town. Our music performers go from strength to strength and we are delighted to have our musicians performing at the National Fringe event for the Music for Youth competition. We are particularly excited this year about our forthcoming school production of Bugsy Malone.

Key to the success of Banovallum is the three-way partnership between students, parents and the school.  We will endeavour to provide the most appropriate education for your child.  In return we ask that your child works as hard as possible and always tries their best.  From parents, we ask that you support the school and encourage positive learning habits from your child.

At Banovallum, we are fortunate to have a dedicated and passionate staff have at their core a desire to ensure that all students achieve the very best outcomes.  This leads to extremely positive relationships between staff and students and means we have a calm and purposeful atmosphere around the school

I am proud of the reputation the school has within the community for producing well rounded, smart and polite individuals.  If you would like to see first-hand how we operate, then we are always happy to accommodate tours and/or taster days. Please contact the main school office to arrange a visit.

I look forward to sharing the learning journey with your children.
