Student Expectations



At Banovallum School we ask all our students to Believe, Achieve, accept Nurture and seize Opportunities. To help achieve this we have 7 basic expectations of all our students:

1. Be respectful, kind, and considerate towards others

This means:

  • Basic manners when speaking to others
  • Not making unkind comments about others either in person or online
  • Looking out for other students and making staff aware of anyone that may need support
  • Not distracting others from their learning during lessons

 2. Be on time for school and every lesson

This means:

Being on time for form time and every lesson during the school day:

  • 8:45 – Form Time
  • 9:15 – Period 1
  • 10:15 – Period 2
  • 11:40 – Period 3
  • 12:40 – Period 4
  • 14:35 – Period 5

3. Follow all instructions

This means:

Following instructions straight away and without argument.


4. Wear school uniform correctly

This means:

Wearing school uniform in line with the expectations set out here https://www.banovallumschool.co.uk/Parents-/School-Uniform/ at all times, this includes:

  • The journey to and from school
  • During the school day
  • When representing the school on a trip or other events.


5. Pay full attention and try their best in every lesson

This means:

  • Focussing on work in lessons, following all teacher instructions and completing tasks to the best of their ability.
  • Asking for help if they are struggling.
  • Acting on advice from teachers on how to improve their work.
  • Completing any homework or revision to the best of their ability.


6. Respect the school environment and facilities.

This means:

  • Placing any litter in the bin
  • Not bringing chewing gum into school
  • Not graffitiing any school property
  • Not taking any item that does not belong to them.


7. Bring the correct equipment to school

This means:

  • Bringing PE kit on any day they have a PE lesson
  • Bringing specific subject equipment when needed, e.g. food ingredients, pieces of homework, etc.
  • Bringing a pens, pencils, ruler and a calculator to school every day.

When joining Banovallum School it is understood that all students, parents, carers and staff agree to uphold and support the basic expectations of the school.
