High flying netball team

On Saturday 18th November the Y11 netball team comprised of Emma Leggate (captain), Ami Johnson, Imogen Towers, Maia-Rose Capps, Jamie-Leigh Dixon, Lil Westaway, Ellie Dearden (Y10) and Chloe Leggate (Y9) took part in the Lincolnshire County netball final at Skegness Academy.  To make it to this competition they came runners up in the Coastal and Wolds Superzone tournament held at Caistor in October.  They had 4 matches to play in the group stages against teams from across the county, some of which they hadn’t encountered before. These included Healing, KEVIGS Louth, Stamford and KGGS. The girls played with determination in all of their games displaying outstanding teamwork to emerge as winners of their group with 18 points.  The girls then faced local team, Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, in the semi-finals. Previous results against QEGS usually resulted in their favour, but not today.  Fantastic shooting by Lil and Eliie and solid defence by Imogen and Maia made it difficult for the opposition. The whole team played with grit and purpose and after a very closely fought contest came out victorious with a 10-9 win which put them through to the final.  The final game was against Spalding High School.  Again they worked as a team and played some superb netball, but unfortunately Spalding were better on the day.  The team are now 2nd in the county and go on to represent Lincolnshire in the regionals on Saturday 27th January 2018.
