September seems a distant memory and it’s hard to believe we have reached the Christmas break so quickly! Our students have had a wealth of opportunities to develop their academic skills and engage in the wider life of the school over the last term and today we will celebrate with our house achievement assemblies where, as well as the academic progress, we will award colours and half colours for services to the school in SMSC, Sport and Creative Arts.
Our partnership with parents continues to go from strength to strength. This term, we have held three additional parent engagement events, as well as having invited every Year 11 parent to join their child and a member of senior staff for a “Next Steps” interview. There are some ambitious plans amongst our Year 11 students and we will all be focused on making sure the first stage of these comes to fruition with an excellent set of examination results! If their conduct during the mock examination period is anything to go by, they are on the right track.
After the break, we will be launching our Saturday coaching sessions in which trained sixth form students from Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School will be on hand on a Saturday morning to support Year 11 students from QEGS and Banovallum in their examination preparation.
The youngest age group in the school must also be recognised. Having completed their first term at secondary school, they are also proving to be a determined and mature group of students for whom we already have high hopes.
The staff and I wish you a very happy and relaxing Christmas break. We look forward to seeing the students back in school for the New Year on 4th January.
